It is a vast sandy beach about 10 km long where you can find beach bars with loud music, lounge bars to relax by the beach and inflatable platforms for kids to play with. And as the sea helps the appetite, there is also a great variety of restaurants all across the beach.

Agios Isidoros beach is named after the local homonymous church which is dominating the area. The beach is famous for its crystal clear waters and has been awarded with a blue flag. Nevertheless, be prepared for really cold water which will definitely revitalize your skin!
After the bath, head to Plomari village and visit any of the great fish tavernas to enjoy fresh fish and ouzo drinks made by local producers.
3. Skala Eressos
Located in the western part of Lesvos, Eressos is considered one of the top tourist attractions on the island. Its coastline is called Skala which means stairs in the greek language (all coastal parts of Lesvos villages are called as such).
In Skala Eressos you will dazzle a vast black sandy beach with enticing crystal clear blue waters, awarded almost every year with a Blue Flag. The beach is ideal for water sports lovers as it provides organized facilities for water ski, windsurfing, jet ski, inflatables, etc.
One of the highlights is to enjoy the best cocktails on the island while admiring the magnificent sunset at the beach.
4. Anaxos & Petra
Anaxos and Petra are two beautiful beaches in the northern part of Lesvos, located a few kilometers away from the famous village of Molyvos.
Petra is a large sandy beach, surrounded by coffee places and fish taverns, ideal for a refreshing yet cold swim in its icy and crystal clear waters.
Anaxos is another great option when it comes to a sandy beach and it offers almost the same scenery as Petra with taverns and coffee places all around. They are both ideal to combine holidays and relaxation.
5. Tarti
On the road of Mytilene - Plomari after passing Gera village, you will find an intersection that leads to Tarti beach. It is a small-scale sandy beach where sailboats use to stop by for endless dives. Tarti is basically located in the bay of Gera and is an ideal location for fishing lovers. If you are an athletic type, it is worth swimming to the small island that is located about 200 meters from the shore, to dive from its top (height about 5 meters).
After your diving adventures, head to one of the two fish taverns located by the beach and enjoy local savory delicacies.
6. Tsonia
Tsonia beach is located in the northeastern part of the island, a few kilometers from Mantamados village and near Klio village. It is a sophisticated and very charming beach with red sand that locals love. The two traditional low-key taverns, located in front of the sea, promise an authentic greek meal & atmosphere.
Secret: if you are lucky enough, you may observe the dolphins that dive in the open sea.
Those were the best six beaches of Lesvos, nonetheless, the island owns some beautiful beaches near Mitilini which are ideal to visit if you are staying near the capital. Stay tuned, as we will explore them together in a future blog.
